Hello I would like to contribute to hpx, but I am a relative newbie towards HPC and parallel programming.

How much knowledge of this stuff is necessary

IMHO - Every large project has sub projects or subsystems as far as I have seen. Thus it could be possible that we don’t understand everything at once. i am no expert myself but if I were to contribute to something new to me, I would make myself familiar with the basics (from the talks and most importantly documentation). Going through the examples etc. My goal would be to understand the project at first. Then I would go about looking

for the things it may need or discuss very specific doubts (doubts specific to a functionality it provides or a mechanism that needs to be annotated better or if there’s something missing). Welcome here btw!

satacker[m]: Unfortunately they left before your messages but good thoughts nevertheless. A good start is to actually build the software, try out the examples and watch/read any educational content made around the software such as Hartmut's presentations about the HPX model.

I retain very little about using HPX but the four horsemen of poor performance (SLOW) will live rent-free in my head forever.
