I’m so happy that my Mac is too old to run current macOS and by extension probably XCode.

bobakk3r: Apple Clang or a proper one from Homebrew or other sources?
<simbergm>
bobakk3r: please open an issue on github with more details
<simbergm>
jbjnr_: now you lost the fix to the duplicate assignment... what are you doing with your force pushes? ;)
<zao>
What has the world come to when you need to motivate force-pushing :P

<simbergm>
*others
<hkaiser>
simbergm: no idea
<hkaiser>
I can add you to the STEllAR-Group org at codacy

simbergm: no idea what's going on. I just signed in with GitHub once
<zao>
So when will you get a full-cluster run of HPX on this thing? :P
<heller>
When it's built :p

<simbergm>
hi rishabh_bansal11
<simbergm>
how's it going? did you have a look at the technical writer guide?
<rishabh_bansal11>
Hello simbergm :)
<rishabh_bansal11>
Yes
<rishabh_bansal11>
I read the latest documentation and I have some changes in my mind.
<simbergm>
all right, what do you have in mind?
<simbergm>
and btw, would you mind telling a bit more about your background?
<rishabh_bansal11>
I was going to tell you that.
<rishabh_bansal11>
So, I'm a blockchain researcher. I have authored one IEEE research paper and I have 1 whitepaper at IBM India.
<simbergm>
ok, anything like technical documentation? would you like to become a technical writer?
<rishabh_bansal11>
Yes, I would like to become a technical writer.
<simbergm>
all right
<simbergm>
so what did you have in mind for the documentation?
<diehlpk_work>
rishabh_bansal11, Are you aware that you have to proof to Google that you have technical writing experience?
<rishabh_bansal11>
does a research paper and a white paper aren't enough to prove my technical writing skills? @diehlpk_work
<diehlpk_work>
I do not think that a research paper will count since it is scientific writing. Not sure about the white paper.
<zao>
Slightly different target demographics?
<rishabh_bansal11>
As you told me. Many things are real repetitive in the documentation. Like I have heard CMake so much times in the starter manual, I actually lost the count. At some places hyperlinks are created and same hyperlinks are repeated & missed frequently. @simbergm.
<diehlpk_work>
rishabh_bansal11, Able to demonstrate prior technical writing experience by submitting role descriptions and work samples. What ever this means?
<rishabh_bansal11>
I just googled that a whitepaper can be included as a technical document. @diehlpk_work. I think I'm safe now ?
<diehlpk_work>
rishabh_bansal11, Good
<simbergm>
rishabh_bansal11: yeah, I'm not 100% sure about what google accepts as technical writing experience, but I suppose whitepapers could reasonably be considered as technical writing
<simbergm>
in the end google has the final word
jaafar has joined #ste||ar
<simbergm>
but yeah, the "building HPX" section is a bit like that
<simbergm>
in the end you'd need to have enough work for 3 months though
<simbergm>
doesn't have to be planned down to every word you'll change but having a slightly more detailed plan than just changing the building hpx section would be needed
<nikunj>
rishabh_bansal11, are you working on changing the manual for HPX?
<simbergm>
if you're technically inclined I'd suggest you even try building hpx yourself and you might get some ideas while doing that
<rishabh_bansal11>
Alright. I'll think like that too @simbergm
<rishabh_bansal11>
@nikunj: yes
<nikunj>
rishabh_bansal11, great!
<simbergm>
when will I learn that trivial changes are never trivial!?
<simbergm>
you'll need to start fleshing out your ideas into a proposal
<simbergm>
we're here for discussing ideas, but in the end the proposal should be made by you
<simbergm>
and btw, I'm insisting on keeping the discussion public (unless there's a good reason not to) as others might be able to help you with your questions, and other people might have the same questions
<rishabh_bansal11>
Alright
<nikunj>
I didn't know there's a season of docs too
<rishabh_bansal11>
I think you are a GSoCer.
<nikunj>
rishabh_bansal11, correct
<rishabh_bansal11>
And you are selected too?
<K-ballo>
nikunj: how's the city treating you so far?
<nikunj>
K-ballo, it's cooler than I imagined
<nikunj>
but well, I imagined too hot so I'm at fault ;)
<K-ballo>
give it time
<K-ballo>
it's the humidity that gets you though
<nikunj>
let's see how I survive these 3 months
<nikunj>
it's raining outside as we speak too
