<jakub_golinowski> M-ms yt?
<M-ms> jakub_golinowski: here

<jakub_golinowski> so I introduced different versions of backend. it is set using two cmake flags so on total there are 4 possible HPX backend configurations
<jakub_golinowski> o tested it in debug mode and added config to application such that it either includes the hpx_main or not
<jakub_golinowski> everything worked as expected so I proceeded with building everything in release mode
<M-ms> jakub_golinowski: very nice, I'll have a closer look in the evening
<M-ms> have you had time to run benchmarks already?
<jakub_golinowski> what is the problem is that in release mode the application is not working :/
<M-ms> mmh, that is a problem
<M-ms> segfault?
<jakub_golinowski> do you have any suggestions why this might be the case?
<jakub_golinowski> so it depends which app
<M-ms> is it hanging? is it only with one of your hpx backend configurations?
<jakub_golinowski> but the opencv_mandelbrot is hanging
<jakub_golinowski> after it prints the config
<M-ms> ok, what happens? how far does it get?
<M-ms> ok
<jakub_golinowski> i did not commit everyting because i was in a hurry. now i am on train to the airport and will try to commit and push current state from there
<M-ms> do you mean after print_system_params?
<jakub_golinowski> but my first suspicion was that the build mode

<M-ms> ok, please do commit even if it's not perfect so that I can have a look (you might want to push to a branch so that master stays working)
<jakub_golinowski> this line is executed for sure:std::cout << "imsize: h=" << mandelbrotHeight << " w=" << mandelbrotWidth
<M-ms> if release works and debug doesn't it usually just means that for some (un)lucky reason it doesn't get triggered in debug, not that release actually causes the bug
<M-ms> that line is not pushed yet I guess?

<jakub_golinowski> the opencv is actually built in Debug mode
<jakub_golinowski> this causes the mismatch mentioned in the hpx docks
<jakub_golinowski> i will correct the bash script

<hkaiser_> twwright: ?
<twwright> hkaiser_, yeah; lots of network issues today
<hkaiser_> twwright: yah, thats going on for a couple of days now
<hkaiser_> twwright: is its aware of this?
diehlpk has joined #ste||ar
Anushi1998 has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<twwright> hkaiser_, we’ve contacted them about the issue
<hkaiser_> twwright: they probably deny it :/
<twwright> hkaiser_, oh I’m sure. . I haven’t had any issues checking out SVN content from off-campus
<hkaiser_> twwright: yah, that got better, but cera has still massive issues
<hkaiser_> cera.coastalrisk.live
<hkaiser_> that's a machine at cct and it fails as it contacts a machine at renci
<hkaiser_> twwright: so there are issues to get out of campus as well
<twwright> hkaiser_, Should I use HTTP or some other service?
<hkaiser_> http should do
<hkaiser_> https that is
<twwright> hkaiser_, no issues connecting from off-campus at rackspace in DFW
<twwright> hkaiser_, likely a routing issue to specific endpoints
<hkaiser_> shrug
<hkaiser_> could be, a loose cable - sometimes it actually works :/
<hkaiser_> mostly not, though
<twwright> loose cable at level 3 or cogent likely
<hkaiser_> anything you can do about that?
<hkaiser_> twwright: how can I help to elevate that?
<twwright> I’ll file a bug with both of them and get laughed at
<hkaiser_> right
<hkaiser_> I doubt I'm the only one having problems
<zao> On our site, the best way to hail the ITS networking people is to set up a stray AP named "D-Link" and they'll hunt you down :D
<hkaiser_> lol
<hkaiser_> good negotiation basis
<zao> If your ITS is the kind that cares about actually upholding some sort of service, they would probably not mind a mention that things are still hosed, with additional information.
<zao> If they don't, well...
<hkaiser_> they are mostly not

<twwright_> hkaiser_, I just spoke with Brandon and Carola. Looks like a routing issue within RENCI’s network (packets never reach the endpoint). Are there other off-campus (non-RENCI) hosts that you are having issues with?
<parsa[w]> hkaiser_: did
<rtohid> hkaiser_: here!
<hkaiser_> twwright_: no, I have no further evidence
<hkaiser_> rtohid: see pm, pls
<hkaiser_> twwright_: as said before I had trouble connecting to svn and vpn, svn seems to be fine now, vpn works after the tens attempt to connect or so
<twwright_> hkaiser_, does this happen when connecting from an ISP from home, or from somewhere else?
<hkaiser_> twwright_: I'm in Europe
