stmatengss: Hi. I think that heller is your mentor in place of me - I had several projects I wanted to mentor, but under the gsoc rules, I can only officially do one - however, I'll still be here for help if and when you need it. Apart from some summer vacation, I'll be in the office most of the time.
<stmatengss>
jbjnr: That's great. Thank for your help.
<heller>
Hey, i think I'll run a little late. Kids took longer than expected...

heller: Okay. You can ping me if you are prepared.
<jbjnr>
heller: did we ever hear if the journal paper was accepted?
<jbjnr>
I gues not, otherwise I'd have seen an email
<heller>
haven't heard anything either :/
<jbjnr>
did someone just merge something. pycicle started a load of builds
<heller>
yes, I merged something
<jbjnr>
good to have you back!

not quite yet...
<heller>
still struggling...

<jbjnr>
I have big problems - I rebased all of my executor work on top of the lazy_init and remove_wait_or_add_new branches, but they are out of date and I don't know if we're going to proceed with them. I can't update to master at the momemt due to conflicts and if I drop those branches from my build, all my stuf is broken again because I removed tons of bits that went away.
<jbjnr>
heller: struggling?
<heller>
struggling to move forward
<jbjnr>
snap
<heller>
fixing the EU project stuff, finishing my thesis, doing stuff i'd rather like to do ;)

Would it be a problem if I were to install boost with gcc and then I were to install hpx with clang?
<jbjnr>
nikunj: I would not recommend it.
<jbjnr>
It might work
<nikunj>
that's what I thought as well
<nikunj>
jbjnr: Yes it does work
<nikunj>
but I too was hesitating to use it this way
<jbjnr>
but it might well not. If clang is linking to the gcc std libc++ then all should be ok
<jbjnr>
well, if it works, then fine!
<nikunj>
So should I not worry about it?
<jbjnr>
run all the tests and see what fails first
<nikunj>
jbjnr: ok
<jbjnr>
if 99% pass, then don't worry
<nikunj>
ok
<zao>
Heh, they're clearing out the storage room at work.
<zao>
Anyone interested in the NAG Fortran compiler on three spools of tape?
<heller>
yes please
<jbjnr>
to use as chrismas bunting or tinsel maybe.
<gablab>
I'm not sure of the path to the boost and hwloc libraries on the cluster and I'm not sure to understand the concept of source tree
<zao>
Can't help with the former, but what questions do you have about the source tree?
<zao>
You may be used to building inside the source tree, particularly if you're familiar with "./configure; make"
<zao>
This pollutes your unpacked sources or repository checkout with build artifacts, and makes it hard to have several builds going at the same time.
<zao>
So some people (and we) prefer out-of-tree builds, where you prepare an empty directory somewhere, and invoke CMake in that directory, pointing out the location of the original source directory so that it can find the CMakeLists.txt.

ah ok
<gablab>
the original source directory being the locaiton of my hpx rep I assume?
<hkaiser>
yah
<gablab>
OK thank you very much
