<jbjnr> K-ballo: heller why are we still supporting c++11 - why can't we make our base level c++14

<heller> jbjnr: what features of 14 would you like?
<heller> jbjnr: I'd rather jump directly to 17
<heller> But yeah, I'm all for it
<heller> Last time we discussed it, the consent was that 14 doesn't bring enough features for us to merit the version bump
<heller> If you have a compelling feature you want, sure
<zao> I can’t build HPX with our installs of the Intel compiler in 17
<zao> And possibly not in 14, thanks to libstdc++ confusing it.
<zao> I think the GCC version we couple with Intel is a bit out of the range supported, but I don't think it gets much better if you aim low there either :(

<heller> zao: eventually, we can't support everything
<heller> And if we can build up pressure...
<zao> Sure, I'm not posing this as a blocker, just a bit of data.
<zao> On our site, the solution to "welp, it doesn't build with Intel" is to build it with GCC.
<zao> The joy of having a rich set of modules thanks to EasyBuild.

<K-ballo> jbjnr: because it is incredibly cheap, compared to supporting 14
